Fair European Games for LGBT+ athletes

The European Games 2023 are set to take place in Małopolska, one of the so-called "LGBT free-zones" in Poland.

So-called “LGBT-free zones” are part of a two-year campaign against LGBT+ people in Poland. The resolution has been signed by over 100 cities and regions in Poland, openly discriminating LGBT+ people. It has led to a terrifying rise in hate speech and hate crimes against LGBT+ in the country.

Małopolska has signed this homophobic resolution in April 2019.

Now they've been selected to be the host of the European Games in 2023.

We want to make sure that all athletes, visitors, and Polish LGBT+ people before, during, and after the Games are feeling safe and respected.

To the European Olympic Committees, the National Olympic Committee in Europe, and the Voivode of Małopolska:

Sports should be available and inclusive to all, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

We call on the European Olympic Committees to condemn homophobia and trans*phobia in Poland and to make sure that the Games will be safe for all. We ask you to raise the issue with the host Małopolska and to develop a contingency plan, in case the discriminatory policies against LGBT+ people continue.

We call upon the local authorities in Małopolska, to abandon all homophobic and trans*phobic policies immediately.
