Fight Trump’s Agenda: Protect Trans Californians' Privacy!

Take action against Trump's transphobic attacks and support the Transgender Privacy Act (SB59), to protect the privacy and safety of trans people.

Donald Trump’s administration has declared war on transgender people, stripping away protections and advancing policies that deny trans and nonbinary people’s very existence. By revoking access to accurate federal identity documents, forcing trans women into men’s prisons, and banning gender-affirming care in federal facilities, Trump has made his hostility toward the trans community unmistakably clear.

California has a duty to fight back. The Transgender Privacy Act (SB 59), authored and introduced by State Senator Scott Wiener, would provide a vital shield for transgender and nonbinary Californians, automatically sealing court records related to gender transitions. This protection would prevent trans people from being forcibly outed through public records, reducing the risk of harassment, violence, and discrimination.

California must lead by example, creating a safe haven for trans people fleeing repressive states, enforcing trans people’s constitutionally protected right to privacy, and ensuring that no one’s private information becomes a weapon against them.

By passing SB 59, California can take a stand against Trump’s anti-trans agenda and reaffirm its commitment to equality and human rights. Trans lives depend on it. Add your voice now!

To Governor Gavin Newsom, Members of the California State Senate, and California State Assembly:

We call on the California Legislature to pass the Transgender Privacy Act (SB 59) as an urgent response to Donald Trump’s aggressive anti-trans agenda.

Under Trump’s policies, transgender and nonbinary people face unprecedented attacks, including:

         - Losing access to accurate federal identity documents, exposing them to harassment, discrimination, and life-threatening violence.

         - Being forced into unsafe housing conditions in federal prisons.

         - Losing access to gender-affirming care in federal facilities.

SB 59 would protect transgender and nonbinary Californians by:

        - Automatically sealing all court records related to gender transitions.

        - Preventing the public exposure of private information, including deadnames and gender transition details.

        - Ensuring that trans people can live safely and authentically without fear of being forcibly outed.

California has a proud history of leading the fight for equality. Now, more than ever, the state must stand up for transgender and nonbinary people against Trump’s hateful agenda. Passing SB 59 is a critical step to protect their rights, dignity, and safety.
