Bring gay dating apps back to China

Help restore Blued and Finka so gay people in China can stay connected and supported.

Imagine waking up to find that one of the only places where you can connect safely with others like you has vanished. That is what millions of gay people in China experienced when Apple removed Blued and Finka from its app store after an order from the Cyberspace Administration of China. These apps are not just dating tools. They are lifelines for community, friendship, and support in a country where acceptance is limited and public visibility is shrinking.

Their removal has sparked fear across the LGBT+ community. People worry that this is another step in restricting LGBT+ expression online and cutting off already rare spaces where they can feel seen and safe. With LGBT+ groups like the Beijing LGBT Center and ShanghaiPride already forced to close, losing these platforms makes isolation even worse.

LGBT+ people should not lose access to community because of censorship. Online safety and connection matter, and removing these apps causes real harm.

Add your name and demand their return. Every signature shows that the world is watching and that LGBT+ people in China are not alone.

To Tim Cook (CEO of Apple), Apple China, and the Cyberspace Administration of China.:

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the removal of the Blued and Finka gay dating apps from Apple’s app store in China. These platforms are important digital spaces where LGBT+ people can connect safely, find support, and build community.

For many LGBT+ people in China, social isolation is already a major challenge. Advocacy organisations have been shut down, public expression has been restricted, and opportunities to meet safely are limited. Removing these apps cuts off vital lifelines for millions and exposes a vulnerable community to even greater risks.

We respectfully call on you to restore Blued and Finka to Apple’s China app store and to safeguard online spaces used by LGBT+ people. Community, connection, and support should never be treated as threats.
