Wael didn't just touch Boumba's breasts, he also tried to force her to have oral sex. This unacceptable act must not go unpunished.

We demand that prison guard Wael and Mornaguia's warden be immediately referred to the disciplinary council and prosecuted for attempted rape and complicity.

Today we're calling your attention to a highly important issue: sexual harassment in Tunisian prisons.

Recently, a particularly alarming case happened to Boumba, a transgender person detained in Mornaguia prison.

Boumba was sexually harassed by the warden named Wael, as he not only touched her breasts, but also tried forcing her to give him oral sex.

These odious and intolerable incidents took place in a context where Boumba was already vulnerable as an LGBTQ+ person detained in a dedicated LGBT+ wing.

As such, we strongly demand effective action to end such misconduct in prisons. It is fundamental that all inmates' rights and safety are protected, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation or status.

We call for prison guard Wael and Mornaguia's warden to be referred before the disciplinary council and charged for attempted rape and complicity.

Firm action must be taken to guarantee that this kind of behaviour doesn't go unpunished, and justice must be granted to Boumba and all victims of sexual harassment in prison.
