Amazon is restricting the shipment of thousands of books worldwide, including those focusing on LGBT+ themes, to regions like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and others. This is the result of a study conducted by The Citizen Lab, an interdisciplinary laboratory based at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto. 

These books – spanning topics like identity, history, and culture – are vital resources for LGBT+ communities.

Amazon's actions violate its public commitment to supporting human rights and LGBT+ inclusion. Misleading messages, such as "temporarily out of stock," disguise the truth: Amazon is actively censoring content under pressure from governments and using vague algorithms that overblock valuable resources.  

By censoring LGBT+ books, Amazon deprives readers of critical information and perpetuates discrimination. This sets a dangerous precedent for corporations enabling authoritarian regimes to suppress marginalized voices.
