TALAY’AN NGO is a trans sex worker led, movement for sex workers with a focus on LGBTQI+. We are under attack by a TERF misinformation campaign.
The M.A.L.I (Alternative Movement for the Defense of Individual Freedoms), is targeting Moroccan sex workers with a harmful and discriminatory misinformation campaign.
We need to expose their dissemination of misinformation, promotion of stigma, and use of hate speech targeting trans sex workers and queer activists. Now!
Join this petition to denounce M.A.L.I.’s anti-sex work movement and prevent them from spreading baseless hate and stigma towards sex workers.
They are sharing unsubstantiated videos on Instagram, referring to sex work as 'slavery' and invalidating womens* and sex workers experiences, advocating for the abolition of their rights.
This is not only disrespectful, but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes and stigmatizes sex workers. By labelling all sex workers as victims, they undermine the agency and autonomy of those who willingly engage in sex work as a legitimate occupation. Such rhetoric ignores the diversity within the sex work community and fails to recognize the range of experiences and choices made by individuals involved in this profession.
They went as far as denying the existence of sex work as a legitimate job and questioned the gender identity of the activists involved “prostitution is not a job, and you’re not a woman”.
Many threats of death and police under the name of feminism followed. This kind of transphobic and misogynistic rhetoric has no place in a respectful and inclusive movement.
We firmly believe in the importance of respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, including sex workers. Sex work is a complex issue that requires nuanced understanding and compassionate discourse.
Help us reject M.A.L.I's discriminatory and abolitionist stance, which only serves to further marginalize and harm a vulnerable community.
