Two young women in Arua, Uganda, were arrested after allegedly kissing in public. Under Uganda’s harsh Anti Homosexuality act, they could face life imprisonment if convicted. Sign now to call for the dropping of charges against them.
Update: 8th April 2026 – Wendy Faith and Diana Denise were released on bail, but charges against them still stand. We must continue speaking up for the charges against them to be dropped.
Wendy Faith, 22, and Diana Denise, 21, from Arua, a city in north-western Uganda, are facing criminal charges.
The two young women were arrested after police raided their rented room. According to local authorities, they were reported by members of the community and accused of engaging in same-sex intimacy, including allegedly kissing each other in public.
Under Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act, people accused of same-sex relations can face life imprisonment.
This means two young women could spend the rest of their lives in prison simply for showing affection.
For Wendy Faith and Diana Denise, the consequences are immediate and terrifying. Detention exposed them to stigma, mistreatment, and coercive practices while in custody. Their safety and future remain at risk.
No one should face arrest, imprisonment, or violence simply for who they are or for expressing affection. Laws should protect people’s dignity and safety – not impose punishment.
Right now, Wendy Faith and Diana Denise need urgent support.
Please sign the petition and call on Ugandan authorities to drop all charges against them.
