Cameroon: Stop anti-LGBT+ incitement to violence

A viral song calls for the murder of LGBT+ people in Cameroon. Demand that streaming platforms and authorities act now.

In Cameroon, Mbolé, a once inspiring musical genre, has taken a dark turn with the mass distribution of a song explicitly calling for physical violence against sexual and gender minorities ( LGBT+ people).

The song Les nerfs des boys, performed by Snoopy the melody, openly encourages physical violence with lyrics such as “stab the f**s!” Despite the outrage and potential for real damage, the song remains available on popular platforms, and is even trending on TikTok.

Cameroon, where being gay is already criminalized, is facing a situation where music is being used as a vehicle for hatred. Streaming platforms such as Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify and TikTok continue to play the song, ignoring the risks to LGBT+ people.

Political analyst Yvanna Chantal Bessecke reminds us that, even in a rigorous legal context, incitement to violence cannot be tolerated. The protection of life is a fundamental principle that transcends any sexual orientation.

We need your voice to declare that such incitement to violence is unacceptable and must stop. By signing this petition, you are telling the influencers, artists and platforms that host this song that the promotion of violence under the guise of entertainment is intolerable. Your signature sends the message that the right to life and dignity for all must be defended.
