Mexico: Demand an LGBT+ Protocol in Yucatán Now!

The Yucatán Civil Registry needs an LGBT+ directive to guarantee our community's rights. Sign now to demand equality and inclusion!

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ The Problem:
On March 3, the Yucatán Congress approved a constitutional reform recognizing LGBT+ rights. However, in practice, we still face barriers at the Civil Registry when trying to access fundamental rights, such as the recognition of our families and gender identity. Without a clear and mandatory protocol, LGBT+ people continue to be discriminated against and face unnecessary administrative obstacles.

⚖️ The Impact:
Same-sex couples struggle to register their children, and trans people face roadblocks in having their identity recognized. Without a gender-inclusive and LGBT+ affirmative protocol, the legal progress we achieved in Yucatán will not translate into real change in our lives. It is the state government's responsibility to ensure the constitutional reform is effectively implemented.

Authorities of the Government of the State of Yucatán

On March 3, the Yucatán Congress took a historic step by recognizing LGBT+ rights in the state’s Constitution. This progress marks a significant victory in the fight for equality and non-discrimination in our state. However, without concrete actions to ensure its implementation, these rights will remain mere words on paper.

One of the main challenges we face is the lack of an LGBT+ Service Protocol at the Civil Registry to guarantee respect for gender identity and the legal recognition of our families. Currently, many LGBT+ people still encounter administrative obstacles and discrimination when trying to access basic procedures, such as changing their name and gender on official documents or registering children of same-sex couples.

The absence of a clear and mandatory protocol perpetuates inequality and leaves the LGBT+ community vulnerable to arbitrary interpretations of the law. Therefore, we urgently demand that the state government implement a protocol that guarantees inclusion, respect, and non-discriminatory access to Civil Registry services.

This measure will not only ensure compliance with the recent constitutional reform but will also demonstrate the state’s commitment to human rights and social justice. Equality cannot wait any longer. Now is the time to act!
