Trans, faggots, dykes, and sex workers are calling for the revolution and the end of laws against fundamental rights in Morocco.
In a context marked by the criminalization of same-gender relationships, due to the colonial law 489 which sends, every year, hundreds of trans, gays, dykes to violence-laden prisons, but also unfair trials which cause discrimination, oppression and violence for those who are targeted by them, the queer community in Morocco undergoes very difficult living conditions which have been worsened by the current defamation campaigns launched by people who hunt them in dating applications, in order to publicly out them. This campaign continues under the complete silence of the State and civil society.
The impact of transphobia, homophobia, whore-phobia is very hard on our community, especially considering the epidemic we currently all face. It renders us vulnerable to domestic violence, and our lives are in great danger because of it.
We call for national action to end these acts of violence against us.
