After Trump directive, Florida removed rainbow crosswalk that honors the 49 people killed at Pulse. Demand the crosswalk be restored and protected!
In 2016, the world watched in horror as 49 LGBT+ people were murdered at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. In the years since, the rainbow crosswalk outside Pulse became a sacred memorial – a place where survivors, families, and communities could grieve, remember, and stand against hate.
But now, that memorial has been erased. On orders triggered by the Trump administration, Florida officials quietly paved over the Pulse rainbow crosswalk, stripping it back to a black-and-white pattern in the dead of night. State troopers stood by as community members tried desperately to color it back in – only for the memorial to be destroyed again.
This is more than just paint. It is an act of cruelty that tells LGBT+ people our grief does not matter, that our history can be erased, and that even the memory of the 49 lives lost can be paved over. Erasing the Pulse memorial is an insult to every victim, every survivor, and every person who still mourns.
But we will not let this stand. Together, we can demand that Florida and federal officials restore the Pulse rainbow crosswalk and protect it from ever being erased again. This is about dignity, memory, and justice for the 49 lives stolen by hate.
